Sad Separation

I was sad and a little surprised to hear that Seal and Heidi Klum were separating. I hoped it was all a nasty rumor this weekend. They always seemed so deliriously happy, and maybe in retrospect, it was a little too over-the-top happy. And apparently his nasty temper is a reason. No one should have to live with someone with a horrible temper.  No one. And I hope for the sake of their four children, they can work something out. Or get help.

It never is that big of a surprise of a major couple splitting, but I can't but feel something for them. It was almost a fairly tale. But there are no real fairy tales, are there? That is why marriage takes work, time, and consideration, and that's why they should never be too easy.

Of course, this is a real love story.

Happiness?

I saw this blurb on People about Noah Wyle's separation, and it reminded me of something I was thinking about last night. Are there any "Hollywood" couples you'd be really floored to see get divorced? There are some happy Hollywood couples, right?

These were a few I came up with...

Heidi Klum and Seal seem truly happy, and with four children, they seem to be thriving. They are a sweet family.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are long-time favorites of mine.

Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan.

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy

I mean, how many more are there?

Some celebs you consider a bit more grounded...Sandra Bullock, maybe...but there aren't many. And how sad is that? Maybe I should account for more of the non-A list types. But this all just makes me sad.

Sad

I've been looking for news all day about Natasha Richardson's condition. How horrible, skiing one day with your son and then suddenly be brain-dead. She and Liam Neeson have always been one of those nice, long-married couples that you don't hear bad things about. And with a couple of teenage/preteen sons, it is so tragic. At any moment, without any notice, horrible things happen. Like those four teenagers killed by the drunk driver near Macomb Mall.

It's hard not to think that something horrible could happen, because horrible things do happen. You can feel lucky and blessed and happy and something terrible could happen. We have to live each day to its fullest and not live in fear. But oh, man, you hear stories like these and your hearts break for strangers who woke up one morning to find their lives changed forever.

Big Hollywood

Love the new website by Andrew Breitbart focusing on Big Hollywood.

As DC gets innundated by the Obamacons, it's nice to see the other closet righties are emerging on the left coast to voice their views on politics, celebrity, hollywood, etc. It would be nice to find some right-leaning musicians, too, though I am not aware there are many. Maybe Five for Fighting? At least Gary Sinise, Kelsey Grammar, possibly Robert Downey Jr., Patricia Heaton, and the handful of others on the right (or those who don't always perfectly walk the left's party line) are speaking out and countering Huffington and other liberals. I plan on visiting this new site often!
